Issue 13: Belief
What do you believe in? Yourself? Your friends, your country? Your political party? Your sexual or gender identity? Perhaps you’re spiritual or religious, and believe in that?
Belief is a strange thing, it can be hard to get a hold of and equally hard to let go of. Belief has underpinned some of the best and worst moments of human history. In the contemporary world many of us sneer at its irrationality, yet also cling to leaps of faith. Faith in ourselves, our god(s)/goddess(es), our community or our politics can be what keeps us going from one day to the next, yet it can also be the thing that drives us furthest apart from one another.
For Issue 13 we want to explore the idea of belief. What do you believe in, and why? What has your experience been with belief? Have you had problems with friends or work because of what you believe? How has your system of belief intersected with your sexual or gender identity?
The deadline for submissions is 13 April 2012. Written submissions can take any form and should ideally be 500-1000 words. Art submissions can be photographs, illustrations or any other form of static visual communication. For written submissions, contact editor@boltmagazine.ie; for visual submissions, artdirector@boltmagazine.ie. You can view our full submissions guidelines here.
